20,000 residents have left Mariupol in private cars so far, Ukrainian official says

LVIV, Ukraine (Reuters) – About 20,000 civilians have managed so far to depart the besieged port metropolis of Mariupol in private cars, Interior Ministry adviser Vadym Denysenko mentioned on Wednesday.

Mariupol residents have been trapped in the town by Russian shelling with out heating, electrical energy and operating water for many of the previous two weeks, Ukrainian officers say. At least 200,000 are in pressing want of evacuation, in keeping with official Ukrainian estimates earlier this week.
