28 stations proposed for Ipoh LRT system


IPOH: A complete of 28 stations shall be constructed for the proposed Gentle Rail Transit (LRT) system in Ipoh Metropolis which is able to cowl a distance of 58km.

Based on the Draft Ipoh Metropolis Native Plan 2035 (Alternative) issued by the Ipoh Metropolis Council (MBI) on its web site on Tuesday (Nov 16), the proposed LRT system contains two routes with 16 stations every, with 4 widespread stations or interchanges.

The Meru Raya-Ipoh-Batu Gajah route covers 30km whereas the Bandar Sunway-Ipoh-Simpang Pulai sector stretches for 28km with a service frequency of six minutes.

The stations for the primary route are at Meru Raya, Jelapang, Manjoi, Silibin, Medan Kidd, primary station, UTC Ipoh, Pasir Puteh, Pasir Pinji, Falim, Menglembu, Pengkalan, Station 18, Lahat, Batu Gajah Perdana and Batu Gajah.

The stations for the second route are at Bandar Sunway, Tambun, Ipoh Backyard, Stadium, Hospital, Medan Raya, primary station, Maju Rapat, Medan Gopeng, Gunung Rapat, Taman Chempaka, Ampang and Simpang Pulai.

Based on the infographic issued by MBI, the LRT service will hyperlink main cities throughout the metropolis and is anticipated to be a most popular mode of transport for native residents.
