KUCHING: Four hundred and forty-eight premises in Sarawak have been sanitised since March 30.
State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) assistant operations director Tiong Ling Hing said sanitisation was carried out at 123 government buildings; 94 worship places; 56 public markets; 49 transportations; 47 assembly points; 30 supermarkets; 31 housing areas; 16 hotels and two factories.
“Kuching recorded the most sanitisation exercises with 156 operations, followed by Miri (91); Bintulu (40); Limbang (34); 28 each in Kota Samarahan and Sarikei; Sri Aman (19); Sibu (17); Kapit (16); Betong (14); Serian (four) and one in Mukah,” he said in a statement.
The total number of sanitisation personnel involved from March 30 stands at 6,582.
They included personnel from Bomba, Civil Defence Force (APM), Health Ministry (MoH), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), People Volunteer’s Corp (Rela), local authorities, District Offices, auxiliary police and other agencies.
As of 11am yesterday, five areas — Wan Alwi Mosque and Village Grove Condominium in Kuching; Serikin community hall; Mas Gading Community Development Department Office; and Bau District Police Headquarters (IPD) — were sanitised by 43 personnel.
In Pakan, three areas — its community hall, District Council Office and District Office — were sanitised by eight personnel.
In Sibu, two buses carrying a total of 29 students from University College of Technology Sarawak were sanitised by 19 personnel.
In Serian, seven personnel sanitised the division’s Social Welfare Department.
In Betong, a bus and a car transporting 22 students were sanitised by six personnel.
Six personnel also sanitised Tanjung Manis airport.
