Abide by MCO during Ramadan, Gawai: Abang Jo

KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg urged Sarawakians to continue complying with the movement control order (MCO) as the rate of Covid-19 fatalities in the state is still high.

He said that the public’s compliance is important as various efforts are being made by authorities to break the chain of the Covid-19 transmission.

“Among the regulations the people need to abide by is to ensure that there is no public gathering and to practise self-discipline in terms of health in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

“For those who were in contact with Covid-19 positive patients, please call the nearest health departments to undergo screening,” he said in a statement made in conjunction with the Ramadan fasting month yesterday.

Abang Johari, on behalf of the state government, wished Muslims throughout the state all the best in fasting during the month of Ramadan despite having to face the Covid-19 crisis and MCO.

He also wished all Dayaks a joyous Gawai celebration which is just around the corner.

“The current situation does not allow us to perform fasting or celebrate Gawai as usual and I sincerely hope that we all persevere in facing the constraints of the MCO,” he added.
