WITH the current spike in Covid-19 cases and ongoing full movement control order (MCO) nationwide, the pandemic continues to wreak uncertainty.

Following the initial lockdown stage, we have already seen several changes take place. For example, people are rethinking the home place as they spend more time there, and this new normal reality is expected to continue for years to come.

This poses a few questions: What have we learnt from our previous MCO experience? What changes can be implemented to benefit residents while adapting to the pandemic?

Safe and flexible high-rise living

Careful planning and creative design can turn even the most modest space into a sanctuary. When complemented with ample greenery and communal spaces, the home can truly become more than the sum of its parts.

“Remote working is now our new normal. This prompted us to innovate our offerings to meet changing needs,” said Wong Siew Lee, Gamuda Land assistant general manager of (Gamuda Gardens).

Wong explained that flexible designs for amenities and shared areas can support co-working while accommodating physical distancing.

Another safety aspect concerning high-rise residents is food and parcel delivery. Considerations for dedicated drop-off or parcel storage spaces will reduce potential health and security risks for residents.

Spaces to relax, work and play at Gaia Residences

Gaia Residences is part of Gamuda Gardens, a meticulously planned, nature-themed township in Sungai Buloh, Selangor, comprising two towers with 17 and 18 storeys respectively, featuring a total of 500 serviced apartment units with two-storey shops and retail units for residents’ convenience.

Gaia Residences is aimed at young professionals who prefer private, work-centred lifestyles with the option to relax and socialise, so what better communal setting than a lushly landscaped podium space?

The project’s podium offers residents spaces to relax, work and play, while plug points around the area provide work-near-home functionality.

The infusion of green radiates calm and well-being, while the serene environment fosters interaction, creative connections and a strong sense of community.

Events can be curated within the podium’s communal living facilities, and comprehensive services and amenities assist residents in fulfilling healthy lifestyles at home.

Gamuda Land’s mindful master planning also delivers peace of mind for residents through ample physical distancing measures with creative design of landscape elements and reorganisation of outdoor spaces and furniture.

This design approach, emphasising the ethos of liveability, is seen in Gaia Residences’ living spaces as well. The apartments, with one to three bedrooms, have been thoughtfully crafted with clean, practical layouts. All bedrooms feature north-south orientations and bathrooms facing interior air wells, creating bright and airy living environments.

With a focus on flexible high-rise living, residents can adapt their homes by carving out smaller dedicated spaces for work and play, and switching their use of space by day and night.

An address in a well-master planned township

Malaysians want more than just a home to live in. They want a place they can grow up and grow old in, while being part of a healthy community close to nature.

This is embodied by Gamuda Gardens’ lush 50-acre pet-friendly central park, with two waterfalls and five cascading lakes.

Residents and visitors can enjoy the cosmopolitan vibe of city living, as the 810-acre township complements its residential and commercial precincts with an abundance of placemaking initiatives under the Xploria banner.

“These components are mindfully placed to maximise convenience for residents and visitors while creating a thriving, sustainable community, in line with our belief: ‘A good town is a connected town’,” said Wong.

“By planning for these elements from the start, we ensure vibrant lifestyles with everything within reach as the township matures.”

In total, 6.7 acres of land at Gamuda Gardens are earmarked towards the development of an integrated commercial hub, Gardens Square, situated next to the township’s main entrance and targeted for launch this year, with two anchor tenants including a well-known grocer and a two-storey drive-through restaurant.

In addition, the Sports Arena nearby features tennis courts and a basketball court, along with a covered walkway to Gaia Residences for ease of access. Residents can also use shared electric scooters or bikes to travel to Gardens Square or the nearby Waterfront Village retail centre.

Meanwhile, Xploria’s recreational themes offer distinct activities for residents and visitors, such as horse-riding and nature walks at the X-scape, Adventure Playland and Paws Playland at the Playscape, Big Bucket Splash and Donut Boat Rides at the Waterscape, and dining and wellness options at the Senscape.

By placing everything within reach for the convenience of residents, Gamuda Land lives up to its promise: “When we get the places right, the town works”.
