PETALING JAYA: Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be giving his statement to the police on Saturday (Aug 7) over the gathering of Opposition MPs at Dataran Merdeka on Monday (Aug 2).
Lawyer Datuk Sankara Nair confirmed this when contacted on Saturday (Aug 7).
“Yes, he will be questioned by the police today. They are expected to meet him at the PKR headquarters at Merchant Square at around 11am,” he said.
So far, 14 Opposition MPs have had statements recorded at the Dang Wangi police headquarters in connection with the gathering.
On Monday (Aug 2), Opposition MPs tried to march to Parliament building to demand that the special sitting be resumed, even though it had been postponed on the advice of the Health Ministry following the spread of Covid-19 cases.
The group then dispersed peacefully after being instructed by the police.
