KOTA TINGGI: The Armed Forces has detained 15 Indonesian nationals, including nine women, for entering the country illegally at Ladang Kurnia here.

The Third Malaysian Infantry Division headquarters said in a statement that its observation post spotted a boat approaching the coastal area near Ladang Kurnia at around 1am on Monday (Sept 20) morning.

“Based on this information, a team was sent to the location to track the suspects… half an hour later, we found 14 suspects hiding in the area.

“At around 9.30am, the team detained one more illegal immigrant near the same location.

“We detained five men and nine women aged between 18 and 48 years, all Indonesian nationals, for entering the country through an uncharted route,” it said.

The statement added that RM6,984 in Indonesian currency, 12 mobile phones and jewellery were also seized.

The suspects have been sent to the Tanjung Sepang tactical headquarters here for Covid-19 screening before they will be handed over to the Immigration Department for further action.
