Bank officer pleads not guilty to nine charges of accepting fake loan documents

SEREMBAN: A bank officer pleaded not guilty at separate Magistrates Courts here to nine counts of accepting fake documents to help process the loan applications of four Armed Forces members.

Yuzakri Yazid 49, claimed trial to six charges when he was produced before Magistrate Norzaliza Tesmin and three more before Magistrate Mahyun Yusof.

For the first four charges, he was accused of accepting a document allegedly from the Armed Forces (UGAT) certifying the position and service of the personnel although he knew these were fakes.

For the five other charges, he allegedly accepted as genuine early settlement quotes from Koperasi Tentera totalling RM8,067.78, RM4346.96, RM77,891.91, RM20,098.60 and RM18,192.82 each although he also had reasons to believe these too were fake.

Yuzakri allegedly committed the offences between Oct 16 and Oct 26, 2018, at a branch of the bank here.

He was charged under Section 471 of the Penal Code punishable under Section 465 of the same legislation.

Offenders can be jailed up to two years, fined or face both a fine and jail sentence upon conviction.

The magistrates allowed him to be released on a bail of RM21,500 and fixed next mention on Sept 20.
