KUCHING: All barbershops or hair salons will not be allowed to operate in the state during the movement control order (MCO).
This is the latest directive issued by the State Disaster Management Committee to curb the outbreak of Covid-19.
SDMC deputy chairman Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said this decision reflects the sentiments of the Majority of Sarawakians who do not agree with opening barbershops during MCO.
“On other economic sectors and depending on the needs of the people, the committee is still in discussion on which sectors could operate during the MCO period,” he said in a press conference on the Covid-19 daily update at Wisma Bapa Malaysia yesterday.
Abdul Karim went on to urge individuals who have close or casual contact with Covid-19 positive patients to immediately report themselves and get screen and tested.
“To date, many of those who have been called by the Ministry of Health (MOH) through phone calls have yet to come forward,” he said.
He said it is important that these people report themselves at the nearest screening centre as this is to improve the process of detecting those who have close contact with Covid-19 patients.
“We urge the public to go for screening quickly because this in one way we can prevent the virus from spreading further,” he said.
