Blue Origin, Boeing chart course for ‘enterprise park’ in area

(Reuters) – Billionaire Jeff Bezos-owned Blue Origin on Monday unveiled plans to develop a business area station referred to as “Orbital Reef” with Boeing, aiming to launch the spacecraft within the second half of this decade.

The enterprise shall be in-built partnership with Sierra House, the spaceflight wing of protection contractor Sierra Nevada Corp, and shall be backed by Redwire House, Genesis Engineering Options and Arizona State College.

Orbital Reef shall be operated as a “blended use enterprise park”, and plans to supply the infrastructure wanted to scale financial exercise and open new markets in area, Blue Origin and Sierra House stated.

“Seasoned area businesses, high-tech consortia, sovereign nations with out area packages, media and journey firms, funded entrepreneurs and sponsored inventors, and future-minded buyers all have a spot on Orbital Reef,” the businesses stated in a press release.

In July, Blue Origin had a profitable debut area tourism flight, with Bezos and three others aboard. Earlier this month, 90-year-old U.S. actor William Shatner – Captain James Kirk of “Star Trek” fame – turned the oldest individual in area aboard a rocketship flown by Blue Origin.
