KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman has confirmed that it has opened an investigation into the “black flag” campaign.

Federal CID director Comm Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan said that the police and the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission are on the case.

“We have opened an investigation paper into the case. We are investigating under the Sedition Act as well as Section 505(c) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act,” he said when contacted on Sunday (July 4).

Comm Abd Jalil said they were tracking down the individuals who were involved in the campaign.

“As I have said before, any reports lodged by the rakyat who are not satisfied or upset will be investigated,” he said.

On Thursday (July 2), Sekretariat Solidariti Rakyat called for people to fly a black flag or black cloth to show their dissatisfaction with the current government.

They urged the public to fly the flags on Saturday and post pictures of it on social media at 3pm with the hashtag #Lawan.

Their demands were that Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin resign, reconvene Parliament as soon as possible and end the Emergency.
