BEIJING (Reuters) – The Chinese province of Jiangsu rewarded fishermen on Tuesday for turning over “suspicious” underwater devices present in coastal waters that posed a nationwide safety threat, media reported.
Jiangsu has a shoreline of greater than 1,000 km (620 miles) on the Yellow Sea.
Since 2020, Jiangsu fishermen have discovered 10 devices that had been international-made and had been able to underwater investigation and “stealing secrets and techniques”, the Xinhua Daily reported.
The newspaper revealed a video clip on its web site of the fishermen receiving awards at a ceremony.
