Chinese singer Jane Zhang has apologised for claiming that she had contracted Covid-19 deliberately.

The 38-year-old requested on Weibo final Friday (Dec 16) afternoon whether or not she was thought-about to have contracted Covid-19 after she had examined constructive for solely sooner or later.

Her expertise was slammed by many Chinese netizens as China is dealing with a Covid-19 surge after lifting lots of its restrictions. Some netizens mentioned she was “adding to the burden of the medical staff”.

Zhang deleted the remark later and apologised in one other submit.

“I was nervous and worried recently, after many people around me were infected while I remained negative,” she mentioned.

“The nature of my job means that I have to come into contact with many people, and my concern is that my subsequent infection may raise their risk of reinfection.”
