KUCHNG: The public are urged to contact their State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) divisional office to get their hands on the state government’s free face masks.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said residents could also contact the local authorities including local councils which were distributing the items to the people’s homes.

He was responding to feedbacks from some of the households here that they did not obtain the free face masks.

Dr Sim said the policy taken by SDMC was not to leave anyone out, adding that the directive was issued by SDMC chairman and Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

“He (Douglas) has instructed not to leave anyone out whether the house(hold) is paying any assessment fees or (getting) free assessment, or illegal squatters or households living in shop lots.

“I was also told that the distribution of face masks in the remaining divisions is progressing. Patience and understanding are needed as the face masks are distributed in the red zones first starting last Friday.

“The distribution in the yellow and green zones has just started,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.

Dr Sim said six face masks were allocated for one household in the red zone while four face masks were allocated in the yellow and green zones.
