KUCHNG: A Sarawak police officer perished yesterday in the line of duty during a road accident in Kedah.
Kota Setar Narcotics Investigation chief ASP Aldrin Gonda, 38, from Serian succumbed to his injuries in the 11.35am incident.
He was on his way to help with Covid-19 enforcement in Pantai Johor and was accompanied by two other colleagues. The other two were injured on the head and both legs.
In the incident, the vehicle which carried the three police officers skidded while trying to avoid a motorcycle which suddenly changed lane from the left lane to the right.
The owner of the motorcycle was detained and the police are now looking for eyewitnesses to help with the investigation.
It is understood from a Facebook posting by Polis Kedah that Aldrin’s remains will be flown home to Tebakang, Serian for burial.
