Cops: Compound notices issued to food delivery riders after advice given to not breach SOP

KUALA LUMPUR: The police issued compound notices to two groups of food delivery riders for violating Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) after they were advised to not do so.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai said eight compound notices were issued to a group of riders for eating without maintaining physical distancing at about 10.25am in Taman Segambut on Tuesday (June 1).

“On Wednesday (June 2), four compound notices were issued to another group of food delivery riders for eating at an empty stall at Batu 3, Jalan Ipoh. The police had advised them to comply with the Covid-19 SOP but it was not heeded, ” said ACP Beh.

When contacted on Friday (June 4) to comment on a post on Twitter by Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh, he said action had to be taken when it came to SOP violations.

On Thursday (June 3), Yeoh had questioned the compounds being issued to food delivery riders.

ACP Beh advised the public to adhere to the SOP by not gathering in a group that would prevent physical distancing.

“Those with information on SOP violations can contact Sentul police at 03-40482206 or any nearest police station,” he added.
