IPOH: Police here have issued compounds to six people for flouting the enhanced movement control order’s standard operating procedures near Taman Bercham Raya.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz said the compounds were issued during a SOP-compliance operation at Dataran Perpaduan 3 on Tuesday (May 25) between 5pm and 7pm.

ACP A. Asmadi said among the offences committed included more than one person in a car and two people on a motorcycle.

“A Facebook user named ‘Lieza Azahar’ had posted that there were issues related to disobeying the SOP in the residential area. The matter also gained some attention from the public and we acted on that information,” he said in a statement.

“The individuals who were slapped with the compounds are aged between 18 and 64,” he said. We also issued eight traffic summonses for various offences,” he added.

ACP A. Asmadi said the police always welcomed information and feedback but hoped these could be done through proper channels.

“We will always conduct checks and will take stern action against those who fail to adhere to the SOP,” he said.

He added that information and feedback could be given to the Hulu Kinta disaster operations control centre at 016-944 5100,05-526 0234 or the district police at 05-254 2222.
