KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman has detected a web-based flight ticket sale scam, which has resulted in victims dropping a complete of RM233,954.
Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Comm Datuk Mohd Kamarudin Md Din mentioned the scammers would promote the so-called flight ticket sale on the “cafe.naver.com/mymalaysia” web site.
“The web site supposedly sells tickets dealt with by ‘Syarikat Apsan Travel and Tour Sdn Bhd’.
“Victims are drawn to the web site because it gives cheaper airplane tickets,” he mentioned in a press release on Wednesday (May 11).
After funds are made, victims don’t obtain any flight tickets, he mentioned.
“We have obtained 20 police experiences, with losses amounting to RM233,954.
“We are investigating the case underneath Section 420 of the Penal Code for dishonest,” he mentioned.
