Couple claims trial to possessing fake RM100 notes


BUKIT MERTAJAM: A businessman and his pregnant spouse pleaded not responsible in a Magistrate’s Court right here Wednesday (July 6) to a cost of possessing 53 counterfeit RM100 banknotes.

Muammar Raid Abdul Malik, 33, and Nadia Mohamed Hussain, 27, have been charged with committing the offence at PMT 30, Mukim 8, Jalan Muthupalaniappan, Sunway Wellesley, Bukit Mertajam, at 11.30pm on June 29.

They have been charged below Section 489C of the Penal Code, which supplies for imprisonment of up to 10 years if discovered responsible.

Magistrate Mohd Harith Mohd Mazlan allowed the couple bail of RM6,000 with one surety every and ordered each of them to give up their passports to the courtroom, in addition to to report themselves to the investigating officer each fortnight.

The courtroom set Aug 11 for point out.
