PUTRAJAYA: For the third consecutive day, the number of fatalities from Covid-19 is above 80.
Over the past 24 hours, 82 people have succumbed to the disease nationwide.
Seventy-one of them are Malaysian citizens while 11 are foreign nationals.
More than half of the fatalities were in Klang Valley with 31 deaths in Selangor and 18 in Kuala Lumpur.
Other states are Johor (eight), Negri Sembilan (five), Sarawak (four), Labuan, Pahang and Kedah (three each), Penang and Kelantan (two each), and one each in Sabah, Perak and Melaka.
The youngest casualty is a 24-year-old woman who died at Hospital Selayang in Selangor.
She had a history of diabetes, high blood pressure and chronic kidney disease.
A total of 17 cases were classified as “brought-in-dead”, of which six had no underlying health conditions.
The Covid-19 death toll is now at 4,803.
Currently, 870 patients are under intensive care with 433 of them on ventilator support.
Friday’s (June 25) Covid-19 figures also saw 5,812 new infections and 6,775 recoveries.
The number of active cases stood at 60,117, down from 61,162 on the previous day.
