PUTRAJAYA: Another 69 people in Malaysia have succumbed to Covid-19, taking the death toll to 4,477.
In his daily Covid-19 statement on Monday (June 21), Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 24 of the 69 deaths were recorded in Selangor.
Kuala Lumpur recorded 11 deaths, Negri Sembilan (nine), Johor (seven), Kelantan (four), Labuan (four), Kedah (three), Terengganu (two), Sabah (two), Sarawak (two) and Melaka (one).
Sixty-six of the deceased are Malaysians, while three are foreign nationals.
The youngest casualty was a 28-year-old woman who also suffered from obesity at Hospital Tuanku Jaafar in Seremban,.
There were also five cases classified as “brought in dead” (BID).
At present, there are 880 patients in intensive care units (ICU) nationwide, with 452 on ventilator support.
On Monday, Malaysia recorded 4,611 new cases and 5,439 recoveries.
This brings the number of active cases in the country down to 62,918.
Of the 4,611 new cases, 21 are imported cases while the rest are local transmissions.
Selangor has the most new cases with 1,346 infections, followed by Sarawak with 682 cases and Perak with 453.
