Covid-19: Interstate travel for wedding leads to new cluster in Terengganu

PUTRAJAYA: A woman who travelled from Pahang to Terengganu for a wedding is now the index case of a new Covid-19 cluster.

The Health Ministry, in its daily Covid-19 press updates on Wednesday (Aug 4), said the 33-year-old crossed state borders on July 23 to attend the wedding at Kampung Tanah Lot Merchang in Terengganu.

After developing symptoms on July 27, she tested positive for Covid-19 on July 31.

About 121 individuals underwent screening and so far there are 43 confirmed cases under the cluster.

The cluster is one of 35 new clusters announced by the Health Ministry on Wednesday.

Of that, 20 are community outbreaks, which are linked to at least 636 confirmed cases.

Another 14 clusters are workplace-related outbreaks with 737 positive cases linked to them.

One other cluster in Pasir Mas, Kelantan is an outbreak at Kampung Lubok Kawah.

At least 11 positive cases have been detected under the cluster, which is linked to a religious activity.
