JOHOR BARU: Johor’s Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar has expressed disappointment with the slow rate of Covid-19 vaccinations in the state.

With only 10% of the state’s 3.78 million population having received their vaccines to date through the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, His Majesty appeals to the Federal Government to step up the national vaccination drive and secure more vaccine supplies, including for Johor.

“I feel the vaccination rate is still too slow and needs to be accelerated urgently. I hope the federal government can also increase vaccine supplies to Johor.

“The state government machinery is prepared to deliver 50,000 jabs a day, with the aim of vaccinating 50% of Johor’s population within two months,” His Majesty said in a statement posted on Sultan Ibrahim’s official Facebook page here on Wednesday (June 23).

Sultan Ibrahim spoke after granting an audience to Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Hasni Mohammad, state secretary, Datuk Azmi Rohani, state legal advisor Amir Nasruddin and state Health Department director Datuk Dr Aman Rabu earlier on Wednesday.

“The best solution to solve this conundrum is to vaccinate as many of our entire population as quickly as possible. This has proven to be successful in many countries that have implemented it,” said His Majesty.
