Covid-19: No new clusters, deaths reported in Sarawak over last 24 hours

SIBU: Sarawak recorded 464 new cases of Covid-19 cases on Wednesday (July 28), with no deaths and no new clusters reported over the last 24 hours.

The State Disaster Management Committee said Kuching still had the highest number of cases with 184, followed by Serian (79), Samarahan (66), Meradong (21), Bintulu (19), Bau (16), Sibu (15), while Tebedu and Tatau have 10 each.

A total of 14 districts reported single-digit new cases, which included Asajaya (nine), Dalat (seven), Lundu (six), Miri (five), Mukah (four), Kapit (three), Saratok (two), Telang Usan (two), and one case each in Simunjan, Betong, Song, Pusa, Selangau, and Beluru.

There were no new cases in the other 17 districts, bringing the cumulative number of cases in Sarawak to 75,211.

“Of the new cases, 349 of them were detected from screenings of individuals with contact with positive cases; 17 from screenings of individuals from existing clusters; 42 from screenings of symptomatic individuals at health facilities; and 56 from other screenings at health facilities,” it said.

At the same time, 278 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals as well as quarantine and low-risk treatment centres throughout the state.

The committee said 18 districts are in the red zone; four in the orange zone; 14 in yellow, and four others, green. ends
