KUCHING: Sarawak has administered 55,017 booster pictures of the Covid-19 vaccine as of Oct 28, says the state Well being Division.
Deputy state well being director Dr Rosemawati Ariffin mentioned the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine was used within the booster programme for Pfizer and Sinovac vaccine recipients.
“People who’ve been absolutely vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine will obtain the booster shot six months after their second dose, whereas Sinovac recipients will obtain the booster shot three months after their second dose,” she mentioned in an announcement on Friday (Oct 29).
Dr Rosemawati mentioned the booster programme was being carried out by non-public clinics and hospitals, public well being clinics, public vaccination centres and cell groups.
She urged people who had obtained appointments by means of MySejahtera to go to their designated well being facility to obtain the booster dose.
“Those that haven’t been notified by MySejahtera can contact the well being amenities concerned to get an appointment,” she added.
The booster programme started in Sarawak on Oct 13 with precedence for immunocompromised people, senior residents above 60 years and well being frontliners.
Final Thursday (Oct 21), Well being Minister Khairy Jamaluddin mentioned Sinovac vaccine recipients could be given the Pfizer vaccine as a booster dose.
