KOTA KINABALU: Social events contributed to three new clusters and a hike in Sabah’s Covid-19 cases on Wednesday (May 19).

With 160 new cases, the number almost doubled from Tuesday’s 95.

Minister in charge of Covid-19 affairs in the state, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic), said two deaths, as well as three new clusters, were also recorded on Wednesday.

“The new clusters – Kluster Kolopis in Penampang, Kluster Pagar Sg Imam Tawau and Kluster Muhibbah Dua Lahad Datu, are due to a marriage blessing ceremony in Penampang, Hari Raya visits and buka puasa gatherings respectively,” he said.

Meanwhile, he reminded the public to take note of the conditions for entry into Sabah that will be in effect from Thursday (May 20) to June 7.

Among the new rules for entry into Sabah is a mandatory Covid-19 swab test with negative results; mandatory 14-day self-paid quarantine at selected hotels for non-Sabahans as well as a mandatory 14-day home quarantine for Sabahans, permanent residents of Sabah and those holding work passes in Sabah.

The full details can be found on the state National Security Council Facebook page and website, as well as the state Information Department website.
