PETALING JAYA: Three MPs are reported to have failed a Covid-19 screening carried out on Friday (July 23), ahead of the special sitting of the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (July 26).

Another four MPs were said to be close contacts of Covid-19 patients and all seven are currently undergoing compulsory quarantine, news portal Astro Awani reported on Saturday (July 24).

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun had earlier said that about 95% of MPs had already been vaccinated for Covid-19, but those who were not vaccinated would still be allowed to attend the special sitting.

Azhar said there is nothing in the Constitution that requires MPs to be vaccinated before coming to Parliament.

However, it was reported that a negative Covid-19 swab test would still be required for MPs to attend the Dewan Rakyat.
