PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 18,560 new Covid-19 infections on Thursday (March 31), says the Health Ministry.

According to the ministry’s CovidNow portal, native transmissions accounted for 18,373 of Wednesday’s new Covid-19 infections, whereas there have been 187 imported cases.

The cumulative total variety of Covid-19 cases in Malaysia now stands at 4,201,919 for the reason that pandemic started.

Meanwhile, the ministry’s GitHub knowledge repository confirmed that that is the fifth day in a row that lower than 20,000 cases had been reported.

Recoveries continued to outpace new infections, with 21,186 recoveries reported, bringing the variety of lively Covid-19 cases within the nation to 206,591 on Wednesday.

The variety of lively cases went up by 263 to 206,854 because the variety of recoveries at 18,253 was barely under the variety of new infections.

Only 0.13%, or 267, of the lively cases are warded in intensive care items, with 164, or 0.08%, needing ventilator help, CovidNow reported.

The portal additionally reported that there have been 44 deaths due to Covid-19 on Thursday, with 8 categorised as brought-in-dead (BID).

Since the pandemic started, Malaysia has recorded a total of 34,983 deaths, of which 7,381 had been BID.
