PUTRAJAYA: Covid-19 claimed 211 lives on Wednesday (Aug 11), bringing the country’s death toll to 11,373.

Another 17,973 patients were discharged from treatment in the same period.

So far, 1,075,816 people in Malaysia (81.5% of all cases) have recovered from Covid-19.

Currently, there are 233,358 active Covid-19 cases nationwide.

This includes 1,053 patients in intensive care units with 546 of them on ventilator support.

The Health Ministry said the country also recorded 20,780 new Covid-19 cases – the second-highest daily figure ever, just behind the 20,889 cases recorded on August 6.

The country’s cumulative total has now reached 1,320,547 cases.

Selangor has the highest number of new cases with 6,921 infections.

Seven other states have more than 1,000 cases are Kuala Lumpur (2,065 cases), Johor (1,693), Kedah (1,534), Sabah (1,514), Penang (1,385), Kelantan (1,284) and Negri Sembilan (1,015)

Cases in other states are as follows: Perak (828 cases), Melaka (636), Sarawak (634), Terengganu (613), Pahang (585), Putrajaya (41), Perlis (29) and Labuan (three).
