PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry is investigating 18 cases of hostile occasions following immunisation (AEFI) at the Kajang Prison, says National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) director Dr Roshayati Mohamad Sani.

“The Health Ministry is continuously monitoring the safe usage of all vaccines including Covid-19 vaccines through the NPRA by monitoring the AEFI reports,” she said.

Norhayati added in a press release on Tuesday (Jan 4) that all reports stated in a letter that went viral have been received by the NPRA and are being investigated.

She added that the AEFI reports classified as serious – which includes deaths – were currently being investigated.

“Investigations are being carried out by the Hulu Langat District Health Office and the Selangor Health Department as well,” added Norhayati.

“This is to obtain complete information and report findings which are then presented to the Special Pharmacovigilance Committee for Covid-19 Vaccine Monitoring to confirm casualties or relations between the vaccines and the reported adverse events,” she stated.

Roshayati added that the Health Ministry would replace the general public on the scenario infrequently.
