Cricket: Cricket-South Africa pull out of Australia ODI series


MELBOURNE (Reuters) – South Africa have withdrawn from the one-day worldwide series with Australia in January after host board Cricket Australia (CA) was unable to accommodate a request to reschedule.

CA stated Cricket South Africa had requested to shift the series, which was scheduled for Hobart (Jan. 12), Sydney (Jan. 14) and Perth (Jan. 17).

“Unfortunately, as a result of congested worldwide schedule together with the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, there aren’t any different dates obtainable,” CA stated in a press release on Wednesday.

CA stated South Africa had agreed that Australia could be awarded the competitors factors, pending approval from the International Cricket Council.
