PETALING JAYA: DAP says it is willing to consider the chance for the Opposition leadership to be part of the National Recovery Council (NRC) and the Special Committee on Covid-19 to save lives and livelihoods.

Its secretary-general Lim Guan Eng however said this is provided that the offer is not token representation and a mere rubber-stamp for the government’s views.

“The winner cannot take all and the loser should not lose all,” he tweeted on Sunday (Aug 22).

In his maiden speech as Prime Minister on Sunday, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had invited the Opposition to be involved in the NRC and the Special Committee on Covid-19.

Ismail Sabri said he hoped that all Members of Dewan Rakyat, whether within or outside of the government, would work together for the nation’s recovery.

“Let us open our minds and hearts to forget our differences by working together. We need to find a common ground and move towards building a consensus for the security and safety of our family, the Malaysian Family. I adapt to the concept of the Malaysian Family as this phrase is inclusive in nature,” he said.
