Doctor dies in car-MPV crash in Batu Pahat

BATU PAHAT: A doctor died when his car got involved in a fatal road accident with a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) at KM2 along Jalan Kluang-Batu Pahat here.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah said that police received a call at around 9.40am on Saturday (May 22) about the incident.

“Initial investigations so far revealed that the victim, identified as Dr Noor Zairul Muhamad, aged 50, was driving his Porsche alone from Sri Gading heading towards town.

“The incident happened at around 9am when the victim lost control of his vehicle and hit a streetlight before entering the opposite lane and collided with the other vehicle, driven by a 31-year-old man, ” he said here on Saturday.

ACP Ismail said due to the impact, the victim suffered serious injuries and died at the scene while the other driver also sustained injuries to his head and has been brought to Pantai Hospital for treatment.

He added that both victims live in Batu Pahat, where the deceased is a doctor at one of the private hospitals here.

ACP Ismail also said that the victim’s body has been brought to Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital here for a postmortem.

He added that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

ACP Ismail reminded road users to always be careful while on the road and always adhere to rules and be vigilant while driving.
