PETALING JAYA: eBelia is a trending topic on social media with over 13,000 tweets, as applicants are reporting issues while trying to redeem the RM150 e-wallet credit from participating platforms.

On Twitter, applicants shared that they faced difficulties redeeming the eBelia credit from Touch ‘n Go eWallet. The app is displaying a “Something went wrong” message to applicants who are urged to try again later. Another applicant shared a screenshot on the app showing that the redemption process failed due to high traffic.

Some applicants are using memes to express their frustration. One applicant claimed to have been facing the redemption issue for hours.

Applicants are also expressing their frustrations on the Touch ‘n Go Facebook page where screenshots of the app’s “Something went wrong” display has been shared by a number of users.

Boost users are also facing the same issue as the app is displaying a “Sorry, there was a problem” message to eBelia applicants, where they are also reminded to complete the redemption process later. On its Facebook page, users are also sharing screenshots of the error messages on the app.

Some applicants are also reporting issues with Shopee as they are greeted with an error 404 message during the application process.

Apart from Touch ‘n Go, Boost and Shopee, applicants can also redeem the eBelia credit through BigPay.

The eBelia programme is expected to benefit two million eligible Malaysian youths (aged 18 to 20 years old) and full-time students registered at local institutions of higher learning. The redemption process starts today (June 1) and will continue until July 22.

The eBelia credit is valid until July 31.
