Education Ministry to renew contracts of over 2,600 teachers

PETALING JAYA: 2,683 teachers appointed in June 2020 on a contract of service (COS) can have their contracts renewed, says the Education Minister.

Speaking at a press convention after the groundbreaking ceremony at SK Putrajaya Presint 8 (3) on Saturday (May 28), Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin stated this was confirmed after the ministry had obtained verification from the Education Services Commission (SPP) on Friday (May 27).

“This is consistent with my previous statement that the Education Ministry will do its best in finding the best solution for teachers appointed under the CoS,” he stated, including that the stated teachers’ contracts have been slated to finish on June 9 this 12 months.

Earlier this month, Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin stated the problem of these teachers could be given due consideration and resolved instantly.

He stated the destiny of 2,600 COS teachers appointed within the June 2020 consumption could be resolved when their contracts are anticipated to be prolonged for 2 years.

On a separate matter, he added that candidates who attended interviews for the one-off recruitment of Education Service Officers (PPP) underneath Grade DG41 in 2021 may view their outcomes starting yesterday (May 27).
