KYIV (Reuters) – Ukraine opposes Canada’s handing over a turbine to Russia’s Gazprom that Moscow says is important for supplying pure gas to Germany and Kyiv believes such a transfer would flout sanctions on Russia, a Ukrainian power ministry supply mentioned on Thursday.
A senior power ministry supply informed Reuters that Kyiv opposed the transfer and that its power minister had lobbied Canada in June not to hand over the turbine being serviced by Germany’s Siemens Energy in Canada.
“The sanctions forbid the switch of any tools associated to gas,” the power ministry supply mentioned.
“If, God forbid, this determination is accredited, we are going to undoubtedly enchantment to our European colleagues that their method should be reassesed. Because if nations do not observe choices they’ve agreed about sanctions, how can we discuss solidarity?”
