Federal funds needed for proposed Kudat port

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is asking for federal funds to construct a deep-sea port in Kudat.

Sabah Works Minister Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin mentioned the state authorities would proceed with the plan to construct a port in Kudat to spice up financial development, however needed funding to get the challenge going.

“I have discussed matters with the chief minister and he has agreed to it being done. So, we hope the Federal Government can allocate funds for the project,” he mentioned.

A port in Kudat, he added, was appropriate as a result of its location and different geographical components.

Bung, who can be deputy chief minister, mentioned a correct port in Kudat would complement the continued Pan Borneo challenge and its financial and social development.

“We are also looking at developing Kudat as a new city so these projects are just right,” he mentioned after an excellence award ceremony for workers of the Sabah Ports Board right here on Tuesday night time.

He mentioned neighbouring districts and small cities would profit from the varied growth as effectively.

The Kudat Port challenge was mooted by the earlier state authorities, led by Parti Warisan, again in 2019.
