Felda supervisor remanded over alleged abuse of position

SEREMBAN: A 36-year-old supervisor at a Felda land scheme has been remanded for seven days to help in a probe for allegedly abusing his position to misuse nearly RM70,000 belonging to the settlers.

The cash was proceeds from the sale of oil palm fruits belonging to settlers in a land scheme in Jelebu.

Magistrate Mohd Firdaus Salleh issued the order following an utility by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigating officer Mohd Shahrul Nizam Mohd Mokhtar.

It was learnt that the suspect was detained on the Felda workplace in Jempol at round 2pm on Tuesday (Feb 8).

The suspect, who was presupposed to pay the settlers for the sale of their fruits, had allegedly failed to take action between September and October 2020.

He had allegedly acquired RM69,137 from the sale of the fruits.

The case was being investigated beneath Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009 which offered for a nice of as much as 5 instances the sum which was the subject material of the offence and imprisonment for a time period not exceeding 20 years.
