KUCHING: A fire broke out at the main switch of a kitchen on the first floor of Kozi Square.Following the call, Kuching and Batu Lintang firefighters were deployed to the scene.According to the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, a distress call about the fire incident was received around 7.10pm.
Upon arrival, they found that the fire involved the main switch.
The firefighters extinguished it completely by 7.25pm.
Sources said the building’s fire alarm wasn’t triggered but apartment staff knocked on the doors of tenants to get them to evacuate the building.
The sources also said the building’s elevators were not functioning and those inside had to go down the flight of stairs to get to the assembly point outside.
No casualties were reported during the incident.
