Firemen rescue toddler trapped in car left with engine running

GEORGE TOWN: Swift action by firemen saved the life of a one-year-old girl who was trapped in a car which had its engine running on Tuesday (June 22).

In the incident that occurred at about 7.45am, the toddler was left on a baby car seat in the back passenger seat of a car that was parked along Jalan Madras.

The Penang Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said they received a distress call at about 7.50am and reached the scene about five minutes later, adding that personnel from the Lebuh Pantai fire station took about 10 minutes to free the toddler.

“The toddler was unhurt and was returned safely to the parent,” the spokesperson said, adding that the operation ended at 8.06am.
