Flood warning system to be fully operational nationwide in 2022


KUALA LUMPUR: The National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (PRABN) warning system nationwide will be fully operational in 2022, in accordance to the Environment and Water Ministry.

Its secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Zaini Ujang mentioned the system offers a warning by sounding a siren as early as two days earlier than flooding happens, in addition to forecasting floods seven days earlier than they had been predicted to happen.

“Thus far, this system is used in the river basins of Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu with 95% accuracy.
