Floods: Aid package includes vehicle repair assistance, says PM

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Family Flood Aid reduction value RM1.4bil includes help for private vehicle repairs in a bid to alleviate the burden of victims, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Those whose private automobiles had been declared as a complete loss due to the floods are entitled to a RM1,000 voucher from the federal government to spend on repairs or purchases to switch their broken automobiles, he stated in an announcement on Wednesday (Dec 29).

Perodua shall be offering free towing to its service centres, a 50% low cost on spare components in addition to free repair labour prices and associated providers, he added.

Proton has additionally agreed to offer a 50% low cost on spare components for many automobile fashions in addition to free towing and automobile wash at its registered service centres, he stated.

“As for other car companies, almost all have agreed to provide free towing services and discounts of 25% or more on spare parts and repair labour cost at their centres.

“Some companies are also offering options for monthly instalment payments for a period of one year,” he said.

Ismail Sabri said the government has always taken a holistic approach through its initiatives and measures to ensure that the welfare of the Malaysian Family was guaranteed at all times.

He hoped all the initiatives under the Malaysian Family Flood Aid can help ease the burden of those affected by the floods.

“Together we pray that the impact of this disaster can be overcome so that we can focus on recovery and economic growth next year,” he added.
