Floods: Number of evacuees drops in three states, rises in Terengganu


KUALA LUMPUR: The quantity of flood evacuees dropped in Pahang, Selangor and Kelantan, rose in Terengganu and remained unchanged in Negri Sembilan on Friday (Dec 31) night.

In Terengganu, the quantity of evacuees rose to 433 from 123 households in comparison with 390 from 115 households at midday.

Kemaman turned the second district to be hit by floods after Dungun with the opening of a reduction centre at Surau Kampung Ban Ho, making the quantity of reduction centres in the state three in all.

The State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat in a press release stated 43 individuals from eight households are being housed on the surau.

“The quantity of evacuees in the Dungun district remained unchanged. The Kampung Shukur multipurpose corridor is accommodating 225 individuals from 60 households whereas the Kampung Pasir Raja corridor 165 individuals from 55 households,” in response to the Secretariat, – Bernama
