Food racks to be set up in 200 locations

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Rubber Council (MRC), in collaboration with Yayasan Amal Malaysia (YAM), will distribute food aid to the asnaf group (eligible tithe recipients) and those whose earnings have been badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic nationwide.

Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali (pic) said the Amal Kongsi Rezeki effort involving an allocation of RM260,000 would benefit the needy in 200 locations.

He said essential items such as rice, sugar, cooking oil and flour would be placed at the special Amal Kongsi Rezeki YAM-MRC food racks to be set up at these locations, including people’s housing project flats and selected sundry shops.

“This initiative will not only help the less fortunate but also empower and improve the economy of the retail business community involved, ” he told reporters after opening the Legasi Sabasun HyperRuncit programme in Kampung Baru here yesterday. — Bernama
