PETALING JAYA: The gulf in class was apparent and Malaysia had no answers for Uzbekistan’s top-class football as they were beaten 1-5 in an international friendly at the Amman National Stadium in Jordan on Saturday (Oct 9).

In the first half, Harimau Malaya, ranked 154th in the world, put on a spirited display, but world No. 83 Uzbekistan showed their class through goals from right-winger Dostonbek Khamdanov (17th and 29th minute) and striker Husain Norchaev (33th).

Veteran midfielder Baddrol Bakhtiar got one goal for Malaysia towards the end of the first half, which certainly cheered the national camp.

But in the second half, Uzbekistan showed why they are one of the best teams in Asia by adding two more through Ibrokimkhalil Yuldashev (68th) and Azizbek Amanov (88th minute).

In their first friendly match in Amman, they were beaten 0-4 by home side Jordan.
