(Reuters) – Francisco “Paco” Gento, certainly one of Read Madrid’s best gamers and a European champion with Spain, has died on the age of 88, the membership stated on Tuesday.

Having began his profession at Racing Santander, Gento joined Real Madrid in 1953 and spent 18 years within the Spanish capital till his retirement in 1971. The left winger made 600 appearances for the membership and scored 182 objectives.

Gento stays the one participant to have gained six European Cups and he additionally gained 12 league crowns, two Copa del Rey titles and one Intercontinental Cup throughout his time at Real.

“Real Madrid want to categorical its condolences and its love and affection to his spouse Mari Luz, his sons Francisco and Julio, his granddaughters Aitana and Candela and all his family, colleagues and family members,” the membership stated in a press release.

Gento gained 43 caps for Spain and represented his nation within the 1962 and 1966 World Cups.
