PETALING JAYA: Establish a Parliamentary Special Select Committee (PSSC) to quick monitor and scrutinise all present legal guidelines which carry a compulsory death penalty, says Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.
The Pengerang MP pointed that many had been “left at nighttime” on the depth and breadth of the potential modifications in coverage and the current discourse on the abolition of obligatory death penalty.

“The PSSC will likely be in a position to quick monitor the method for regulation reform by offering a platform for authorized discourses and debates through a multi-party committee of MPs, related non-governmental organisations and stakeholders.
“This will assist restore the general public’s religion in a system that’s clear and inclusive,” mentioned the previous Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker in a press release on Sunday (June 12).
On June 10, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob mentioned that the death penalty wouldn’t be abolished, and the change was the truth that judges had been now given discretion in sentencing.
This resolution was reached following the presentation of the of the Special Committee on Substitute Sentences for the Mandatory Death Penalty through the Cabinet assembly on June 8.
The Committee was led by former chief justice Tun Richard Malanjum and comprised authorized consultants equivalent to a former chief choose of Malaya, a former solicitor-general, authorized practitioners, a regulation lecturer and a criminologist.
