BEIRUT (Reuters) -Former Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab filed a swimsuit in opposition to the Lebanese state on Wednesday over his prosecution by Beirut blast investigator choose Tarek Bitar, someday earlier than a scheduled interrogation by the choose, native media reported.

Bitar should pause his prosecution of Diab as soon as he’s formally notified of the case, lawyer Nizar Saghieh of watchdog group Authorized Agenda instructed Reuters.

Bitar can proceed his prosecution of others within the case, he mentioned.

Diab, who has been charged over the Aug. 4. 2020 port blast that killed greater than 215 individuals, has missed at the least two interrogation periods scheduled by Bitar, who has been spurned by practically all high officers he has sought to query.

A lawyer representing Diab didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark.

Diab has argued that the choose doesn’t have the authority to prosecute him, as have plenty of former ministers charged by Bitar who’ve filed a slew of lawsuits and motions in search of to have the choose eliminated.
