Funds 2022: RM33mil allotted for ‘purchase native’ campaigns to spice up retail trade

PETALING JAYA: In a transfer to spur the retail trade, the federal government has allotted RM33mil in direction of “purchase native” buying campaigns.

Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz stated the allocation will likely be channeled to the Purchase Malaysian Merchandise Marketing campaign, Mega Gross sales Programme and the Khazanah Alam Industri direct promoting programme.

“These initiatives are to spice up the manufacturing and buy of native merchandise. The federal government is dedicated to help native handicrafts and pure merchandise with these gross sales campaigns and can allocate RM33mil for them,” stated Tengku Zafrul in the course of the Funds 2022 presentation.

He added that the federal government will even proceed the Store Malaysia On-line and the Go-eCommerce Onboarding campaigns with an allocation of RM250mil.

“The retail trade is a kind of badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“In 2022, particular focus will likely be put to assist social enterprises, halal, handicrafts, agriculture and native entrepreneurs to modify to digital providers.

“The Store Malaysia On-line and the Go-eCommerce Onboarding campaigns have been successful and it has benefited greater than 500,000 native entrepreneurs. For that, the federal government will proceed these programmes with an allocation of RM250mil,” he stated.

He added that the federal government is encouraging using Store Malaysia On-line vouchers at enterprise premises and the acquisition of tickets for vacationer points of interest comparable to zoos and theme parks, as an initiative to help the restoration of the tourism sector.
