KOTA KINABALU: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia has no plans to surrender the Beaufort parliamentary seat and wants a lady to stay as its candidate.
Sabah Bersatu Srikandi chief Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun, who’s Beaufort MP, mentioned the women’s wing had no intention to surrender the seat for the fifteenth General Election.
Azizah mentioned Bersatu’s Srikandi wing would defend the seat although there was a chance that she wouldn’t be fielded.
She mentioned it was as much as the celebration management to determine on the candidate for the Beaufort seat – so long as Srikandi’s request for a female candidate is retained.
“We will defend the Beaufort parliamentary seat although it will not be me who’s nominated,” she mentioned after chairing the Sabah Bersatu Srikandi assembly right here Saturday (May 14).
The Beaufort parliamentary seat was gained by Azizah within the 2018 General Election on a Barisan Nasional-Umno ticket.
Azizah, along with 4 different Sabah Umno MPs, left to affix Bersatu in 2019 in the course of the exodus of state Umno leaders shortly after the autumn of the state Barisan Nasional authorities.

Azizah reiterated Sabah Bersatu’s Srikandi hope that ladies candidates from the celebration could be given not less than 4 seats to contest in GE15.
“If given greater than 4 extra seats, it’s good, however we hope 4 seats have to be given to ladies,” she mentioned.
On the launching of GRS on May 26, she mentioned ladies leaders needs to be given their due place within the new coalition.
“In any political coalition, ladies can’t be marginalised, as a substitute they need to be taken severely as a result of 50% of the inhabitants, together with voters on this nation and state, are ladies,” she added.
